SGP at the 2025 Career Expo

We had an incredible time at Career Expo 2025, hosted at the STEAM Center! 🚀 With over 500 enthusiastic students from Valdosta’s middle and high schools in attendance, the energy was high and curiosity even higher.

Our team was proud to represent South Georgia Pecan and share the full journey of a pecan — from its humble

beginnings on the farm, through the detailed production process in our facility, and all the way to shell processing at our Southeastern Reduction Facility. It was an exciting opportunity to show how agriculture, food production, and even science and technology intersect in our industry.

The students got a first-hand look at how many different career paths exist within the world of pecans—from office administration and plant operations to billing and quality control.

We want to give a huge shoutout to our amazing team members who shared their time and expertise:
🔹 Brieanna Pratho, Office Manager
🔹 Patrick Roberts, Finished Product Manager
🔹 Jenn Wertz, SER Plant Manager
🔹 Charlee Huggins, Billing Specialist

Their passion and knowledge made a real impact, and we’re grateful for their commitment to education and community outreach.

Events like these remind us why we love what we do — and why it’s so important to connect with the next generation of workers, thinkers, and makers.

Here’s to growing minds and planting seeds for the future!

Research Supports Eating Pecans as a Heart-Healthy Snack

The International Nut & Dried Fruit Council recently highlighted a study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition showing how swapping regular snacks for pecans can boost heart health! ❤️

In a 12-week study, participants who replaced their usual snacks with 57 grams of pecans per day saw:
✅ Lower total cholesterol
✅ Reduced LDL (“bad”) cholesterol
✅ Decreased triglycerides (blood fat linked to heart disease)
✅ Improved overall diet quality
A simple change = big heart health benefits! Try adding pecans to your daily routine for a tasty, heart-smart snack!

Celebrating Louise Aldridge

At South Georgia Pecan Company, we believe that our success is built on the dedication and hard work of our incredible team members. This week, we had the distinct honor of celebrating the retirement of Louise Aldridge, who has been an invaluable part of our SGP family for an incredible 25 years!

A Legacy of Dedication and Versatility

Throughout her tenure, Louise wore many hats, contributing her skills, passion, and unwavering commitment to our team. Whether she was tackling daily challenges, supporting her colleagues, or bringing her wealth of experience to the table, she played a vital role in making SGP a better place to work. Her ability to adapt, lead, and uplift those around her has left a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of working with her.

More Than Just a Team Member—A True Friend

Beyond her professional contributions, Louise has been a friend and mentor to many. Her warm personality, contagious laughter, and positive spirit have made a difference in the lives of her coworkers. She has not only helped shape the success of SGP but has also built lifelong relationships along the way.

An Exciting New Chapter

While we will certainly miss her presence in the workplace, we couldn’t be happier for Louise as she embarks on this well-deserved next chapter of her life. She now gets to enjoy more time doing what she loves—traveling with her husband, Hubert, and making precious memories with her grandchildren.

Louise, thank you for 25 years of dedication, hard work, and the countless ways you’ve enriched our team. We wish you all the happiness, relaxation, and adventure that retirement has to offer! You will always be part of the SGP family. Enjoy this exciting new journey—you’ve earned it!

Joining Forces!

At South Georgia Pecan Company (SGP), collaboration and continuous learning are at the heart of what we do. We were thrilled to welcome our team leaders and managers from our Eastern Production Facility in Valdosta, GA, as they visited our El Paso facility to gain firsthand insight into our Western Production processes. This visit was an incredible opportunity to strengthen teamwork, exchange valuable knowledge, and reinforce our commitment to operational excellence across all locations.

Bridging the Gap Between East and West

Our production and quality departments play a crucial role in ensuring that we maintain the highest standards in pecan processing. During this visit, our teams had the chance to dive deep into the differences and similarities between the Eastern and Western production methods, allowing for a well-rounded perspective on best practices. The El Paso facility specializes in unique shelling processes tailored to our Western production needs, and sharing these insights with the Valdosta team was key to fostering a more cohesive operational strategy.

A Learning Experience for All

This exchange was more than just a facility tour—it was an interactive experience where ideas flowed freely. Our teams engaged in discussions about efficiency improvements, quality control measures, and innovative techniques that can enhance both facilities. The hands-on approach allowed our visitors to see our shelling processes in action, understand how we optimize production, and explore ways to integrate new methods into their own operations.

Looking Ahead

Visits like these strengthen our company’s ability to work as a unified team, regardless of location. By sharing expertise and learning from each other, we continue to grow and refine our processes to ensure that SGP remains a leader in pecan production.

We appreciate our Eastern Production Facility leaders and managers for taking the time to visit El Paso, and we look forward to more opportunities to collaborate in the future. Safe travels back to Valdosta—we hope to see you all again soon!
