Celebrating Mother’s Day — East to West!

In Valdosta, our Eastern Office hosted a beautiful brunch that was filled with love, laughter, and plenty of appreciation for the amazing women who keep everything running smoothly — both in the workplace and at home. The brunch was a perfect opportunity to recognize their tireless dedication and hard work. A special thank you to Banners by Jess for creating the gorgeous custom banner that added the perfect touch to our celebration — it truly made the event unforgettable! 💐

Meanwhile, out West, at our El Paso production facility, the team treated our hardworking moms to a delicious Mexican luncheon that was as flavorful as it was heartfelt. With vibrant dishes and flavors that reflect the spirit of our West Texas roots, it was the perfect way to show our gratitude for everything our moms do — not just at work, but in every aspect of their lives. The smiles, laughter, and stories shared over lunch made it clear just how much we all cherish the contributions of these amazing women.

To all the wonderful moms who are part of our South Georgia Pecan family — and to moms everywhere — we want to take this moment to express our deep appreciation. You balance so much with grace and strength, and we are grateful for all the love and energy you put into everything you do. We hope you enjoyed your special day as much as we enjoyed celebrating you!

Here’s to the moms who inspire, lead, and create positive change — your impact is felt every single day.

Celebrating Leadership and Teamwork

A huge shout-out to the exceptional team at our Eastern Production Facility for successfully completing their first-ever Extreme Ownership Leadership Training Workshop! This 12-week course, led by our very own Production Manager, Phillip Grajeda, has been a transformative experience, focusing on leadership, accountability, and teamwork through the principles laid out in the groundbreaking book Extreme Ownership by Jocko Willink and Leif Babin.

Throughout the course, the team explored critical concepts such as taking full responsibility for their actions and decisions, fostering a culture of empowerment, and leading by example. These powerful lessons are designed to challenge individuals to rethink leadership and take ownership of their success and failures, ultimately driving the organization forward.

The dedication, commitment, and growth demonstrated by the team members over these 12 weeks has been nothing short of inspiring. Week after week, they showed up ready to learn, apply the principles, and elevate their leadership capabilities. Their enthusiasm and perseverance during the program have made such a lasting impact that we are now bringing the Extreme Ownership course to more leaders across the SGP family, reinforcing our commitment to developing strong leadership at every level.

Special recognition goes to the attendees who embraced this transformative journey, including:

  • Carson Whitten

  • Branden Charro

  • S. Patrick Roberts

  • Robert Taylor

  • Nathan Smith

  • Mitch Gnehm

  • Daniel Wade

  • Derek Barkalow

These individuals exemplified what it means to lead with accountability and teamwork. Each participant played a vital role in making the workshop a success, stepping up every week with energy, determination, and a willingness to grow.

At South Georgia Pecan, we believe that strong leadership is the foundation of our success. This training is just the beginning of our ongoing commitment to leadership development. As we continue to grow as a company, we are excited to see how these leaders will influence the future of our organization and inspire others to take ownership of their roles and responsibilities.

Here’s to continued growth, strong leadership, and the incredible journey ahead!

Safety Week Success at South Georgia Pecan!

At South Georgia Pecan’s Western Production Facility, we recently hosted Safety Week—a dedicated time to train, educate, and inspire a stronger, safer work culture for all employees.

Both day and night shift teams took part in small-group safety workshops filled with interactive training, live demonstrations, hands-on activities, and fun games. Topics ranged from general safety awareness to more focused training on personal protective equipment, lockout/tagout, fall protection, ladder safety, hazard communication, and more.

Through realistic demos and practice scenarios, employees learned the importance of staying alert, following procedures, and working with safety in mind—not just for themselves, but for the loved ones waiting for them at home.

To make safety training even more engaging, we ended each session with a pizza party and safety-themed games, giving everyone a chance to apply what they learned in a fun and memorable way.

We also had a Work Wear Safety Pop-Up Store on-site, where employees could purchase safety shoes using the company’s 50% incentive—another step in helping our team stay protected on the job.

One of the highlights of the week was the Immersive Factory Virtual Reality Station, allowing employees to experience safety challenges in a digital environment that was both educational and entertaining.

To close out the week, we celebrated with a Safety Raffle, recognizing our collective effort in making safety a daily priority.

A huge shoutout to Marcos Melendez, our Safety and Training Coordinator, for organizing and leading this impactful event. His dedication and planning helped make Safety Week not only a success—but a valuable step forward in protecting our team.

At South Georgia Pecan, safety isn’t just a rule—it’s a responsibility we all share. Let’s keep working safe, together.
