Honoring Teamwork, Safety, and Success in El Paso

We recently had the pleasure of hosting a wonderful luncheon at our Western Production Facility in El Paso, bringing our team together to celebrate a truly successful year. 🎉🌮 It was a moment to pause, connect, and recognize the many accomplishments made possible by the dedication and teamwork of our employees.

Over the past year, our facility has achieved important milestones, including successful audits and a strong, positive start to this year’s harvest season. These achievements reflect not only operational excellence, but also the daily commitment our team brings to quality, consistency, and safety.

The luncheon featured delicious Mexican food and created a relaxed, welcoming environment where employees from across the facility could enjoy a well-deserved break together. Beyond the food and celebration, the event served as an opportunity to reinforce one of our core values: safety.

As part of the celebration, we held our Safety Gift Cards Raffle to recognize employees for maintaining zero lost-time accidents. This recognition highlights the care, responsibility, and attention to safety that our team demonstrates every day on the job. Their commitment helps protect not only themselves, but their coworkers and the entire operation.

We are incredibly proud of our Western Production team and grateful for their hard work, dedication, and teamwork. Moments like these remind us that our success is built on people—and it’s because of them that we continue moving forward safely and successfully.

Thank you to everyone who makes a difference every single day. 💪🦺

Happy Halloween from South Georgia Pecan!

Halloween came alive at South Georgia Pecan as our main office hosted its annual Halloween Costume Contest, and it was a frightfully fun celebration from start to finish. Team members showed up in full spirit, bringing creativity, humor, and a few spooky surprises that filled the office with excitement and laughter.

This year’s costumes did not disappoint, making it a tough decision for our judges. Congratulations to Nathan Smith, who claimed 1st Place with an outstanding costume that truly stood out. Charlee “The Cereal Killer” Huggins earned 2nd Place with a hilariously creepy concept that had everyone talking, while Kim Morrissey, charming us all as Minnie, took home 3rd Place with a classic and crowd-pleasing look.

Beyond the costumes, the event was a great opportunity for our team to come together, enjoy treats, share laughs, and celebrate the lighter side of our workplace culture. Moments like these reflect what we value most at SGP—team spirit, creativity, and having fun together.

Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this year’s Halloween celebration such a success. From all of us at South Georgia Pecan, we hope your Halloween was filled with treats, smiles, and just the right amount of spooky fun!

Harvest Season: When the Work Comes Full Circle

It’s one of our favorite times of the year—when months of hard work, care, and patience finally come to life. As pecan harvest begins across the southern states, orchards are filled with activity, and the results of an entire growing season are finally ready to be gathered. This is a moment that reflects dedication, tradition, and the strong partnerships that make our industry thrive.

By late October, pecan trees have reached a critical stage in their annual cycle. The nuts have fully matured, and the shucks begin to split open, signaling that the pecans inside are ready for harvest. This natural opening allows the nuts to fall from the tree, making it possible for growers to begin collecting them from the orchard floor. Timing is essential during this stage—harvesting too early or too late can impact quality, yield, and flavor.

This period is the culmination of months of careful orchard management. From irrigation and fertilization to pest monitoring and weather challenges, growers have worked diligently to support healthy trees and ensure strong nut development. Late October also brings cooler temperatures, which help preserve nut quality and support efficient harvesting conditions.

As harvest season unfolds, we want to take a moment to thank the incredible farmers and grower partners who make it all possible. Their commitment, expertise, and passion are at the heart of every pecan we process. We’re proud to work alongside them and grateful for the trust they place in us year after year.

Here’s to a successful harvest season and to the people behind every tree, every orchard, and every nut.

Wellness Works @ SGPC

South Georgia Pecan was proud to partner with SGMC Occupational Health and Urgent Care Centers as part of our Wellness Works @ SGPC initiative—a program designed to support the health, well-being, and long-term wellness of our employees.

During this special wellness event, three dedicated SGMC nurses spent the day onsite providing wellness screenings and sharing helpful information about the health services available through SGMC’s two local locations. Employees had the opportunity to ask questions, learn more about preventive care, and better understand how to connect with a primary care physician and schedule routine wellness visits.

These conversations are an important step in helping our team take a proactive approach to their health. By making access to information and resources easier, we aim to remove barriers and encourage employees to prioritize preventive care, early detection, and ongoing wellness.

At South Georgia Pecan, we believe that a healthy team is a strong team. Initiatives like Wellness Works @ SGPC reflect our continued commitment to supporting not only the work our employees do, but also the people they are—inside and outside the workplace.
